Hey cruisers, I’m Sheri with Cruise Tips TV. Welcome to our deck-by-deck video tour of the Star Princess. We’ll start with deck 5 and the Capri dining room.
Capri is one of three main dining rooms on the ship, and on our sailing was used for anytime dining between about 5:30 and 9pm. There are a variety of table sizes to accommodate everyone from couples to large groups. All three of Star’s dining rooms are very similar. The internet café and library are combined on Star Princess, and they’ve done a nice job of using the space. One side has a nice group of computers, some with ocean views, while the other side has a good selection of books and even some games. The lobby bar is almost always hopping with activity, and serves as a nice place for diners to enjoy a cocktail in the piazza while waiting for a table in the Capri dining room. Next up is our favorite place for morning coffee; the International café. You can choose from a wide variety of pastries, or a hot breakfast sandwich to accompany your coffee. For the remainder of the day, the Café offers a variety of savory snacks and salads, desserts and even hot soups Casinoslots South Africa. The menu changes throughout the cruise, so be sure to stop by and check it out. Here’s a quick look at the Art Gallery. Art is stored here for viewing in between auctions, and is moved to the explorer’s Lounge, on Deck 7, midship. The Piazza is a lovely open space and is often teaming with activity, as you’d expect. In the evening, you can expect the piazza to be a lively gathering point for musical entertainment, the captains champagne waterfall, and the infamous Princess balloon drop. The Vines bar is one of my favorite stops for a wine flight and complimentary tapas, and sushi. Decorated in dark tones with a authentic wine country feel, this is a great place to relax and enjoy the nice selection of wines. Next-door is the vines shop a fun little place where you can pick up some gourmet gifts and treats for friends back home. The Amalfi Dining room on Deck 6 is similar in style to Capri and Portofino. Because they are so similar we won’t spend too much time looking around. The Portofino dining room is also located on Deck 6. On our sailing, this dining room was also used for Afternoon Tea, where white-gloved servers spoil you with the most delicious scones and cream, and a selection of desserts and sandwiches. If you’re in the mood for a little retail therapy, you’ll probably enjoy Calypso Cove and its neighbor, Essence. Here’s a look at the Passenger Services Desk, and it’s always friendly staff. Just around the corner is the Grand Casino. Along with coinless slot machines, the casino offers a good selection of table games like black jack and roulette. And this is Shooters bar. It’s kind of a sports themed hangout with dark wood tones and plenty of atmosphere. On our sailing, they showed football games which were announced in advance in the Princess Patter. Here at the front of the ship is the Princess Theatre, the largest entertainment venue onboard. You’ll gather here for most of the production shows throughout your cruise. Here’s a tip; if you want to avoid the crowd, hold out for the late showing. Located aft, The Vista show lounge hosts production and comedy entertainment by night and a variety of functions by day. From Zumba to Bingo, the stage here gets a lot of use. Every seat in the house offers a great view and the lounge has it’s own well stocked bar. Just outside the Vista Lounge and Sabatini’s, you’ll find the photo gallery where photos from the entire cruise are displayed. Sabatini’s is the ship’s Italian style trattoria. For a nominal fee, you can enjoy a filling multicourse meal here in Mediterranean style. The vibe here is relaxed and comfortable, like a Tuscan Villa, so be sure to set aside a few hours for your dining experience… and Save a little room for the Espresso crème brulee. Be sure to make a reservation early in your cruise …this is a popular spot. Moving toward the center of the ship, The wheelhouse bar is a spacious spot for drinks and entertainment. Here’s a tip for you- On our sailing, buy one get one for $1 cocktails were served every evening from about 5-6pm. Get there early, as the live music and popular drink promo make this a hotspot. The Explorer’s lounge is another of the ships entertainment venues. With an open design, a dance floor, and a large bar, this Egyptian themed spot hosts everything from trivia to game shows, art auctions, and even ballroom dance and tap classes. Another tip – you’ll find most of the art auctions here, and free champagne is often served, with no strings attached during the actions. Adjacent to the piazza is another great meeting spot, Crooner’s Bar where you’ll find live entertainment from guitar and vocals to live Mariachi duos. For more shopping, you can visit Facets and Meridian Bay the onboard boutiques. You’ll read a lot about special events and discounts in your Princess Patter, and on your in room TV. Moving forward on the promenade deck, you’ll find the beautiful and spacious Shore Excursions area tucked away across from the Crown Grill . There’s a screen where you can view sold out tours, lots of literature to review before choosing an excursion, and a friendly staff to help you make the most of your port experience. Speaking of the Crown Grill, let’s take a look at Princess’s signature steakhouse and grill where you’ll find seafood, aged premium silver steaks and chops, and a refined, yet welcoming setting. Everything here is delicious, but my favorite is the filet mignon. The restaurant offers a combination of booth and table seating, some with views of the promenade deck. You’ll want to make your reservations early for this popular spot. You might find the first night of your cruise to be a great time to score a good spot in the Crown Grill. Here, you’ll find the Princess Captain’s Circle office, which is just next to the Future Cruise. The future cruise office is one of the best kept secrets onboard. you can sit down with an “agent” to plan your next cruise for a reduced deposit that’s only available to you onboard a Princess ship, and You’ll get some onboard credit for your next cruise by booking onboard as well. If you prefer, you can do what we do, and simply drop off your future cruise deposit form and chose your next ship and sail date at a later time. You can even transfer your booking to your travel agent back home. Princess’s future cruise perks are one of the perks we love most about this cruise line. The Terrace pool is technically located aft on Aloha Deck 12, but we’ll show it here along with the other pools and hot tubs on Lido Deck 14. It’s a great place for a dip and to take in the dramatic wake view. Located on the Horizon Terrace, and just up the stairs from the Terrace pool is the Outrigger Bar. If you’re looking for another great spot to take in the wake view and maybe enjoy a cocktail, then this is your spot. You won’t have any trouble finding a mango margarita here. If you get hungry, the Horizon Court is only steps away. Horizon is the go to stop for a quick buffet breakfast, lunch, or dinner. During the breakfast hours, staff will bring you a made to order omelette while you watch for sea life. In the evening, the Horizon court transforms to a tranquil spot where you can enjoy all the finest food, without having to dress up. A great option after a long day ashore. Inside tip: on select evenings, the aft of Horizon Court transforms into the Crab Shack, where you can enjoy steamers and pots for a modest upcharge. You’ll find your standard buffet pleasers here including desserts, which are kept in a separate station for quick, yummy access. drink station is simple, but adequate. Adjacent to the Calypso Pool, you’ll find the always friendly staff at the Calypso Bar. And this is the Calypso Pool. It’s retractable glass dome creates a comfortable, sometimes balmy place to swim or soak in it’s heated, freshwater pool or hot tubs. This is a wonderful place to swim and soak on cooler days. We love to order a drink from the nearby bar, and soak in the hot tubs while the sun is setting. Near the pool, you’ll find Sundaes, the ships soft serve ice cream spot. This is always a popular place, and there are even a few yummy toppings to fancy up your cone. Neptune’s Reef Pool is also heated, with two adjacent hot tubs. This is a great place to grab a deck chair (or a hot tub) for Movies Under the Stars on the giant, outdoor screen. We also enjoyed the Love Boat themed Deck party on our sailing Near Neptune’s Reef and pool, you’ll find the conveniently located Prego Pizzaria, the Mermaids Tail, and of course, the Trident Grill- where you can grab grilled burgers, hot dogs, and delicious French fries to enjoy poolside. Parents will be happy to know Star Princess hasn’t forgotten the little ones. Much of the back of deck 15 is dedicated to young cruisers. You’ll see that there is quite a bit of space in here with lots of stuff for the kidlets. Now let’s take a quick look at the teen facilities on the ship. You can see they’re going for a hip hangout vibe here, so yeah, it could be fun for a teen. The Trade Winds Bar sits above Neptune’s reef pools, with ample seating and a direct view of Movies under the stars. Now on to Heart & Minds, the ships wedding chapel. This is a cute little place, which can also double as a meeting room. And here’s what it looks like walking down the isle – dun, dun, da dun … And here’s the spa. The Lotus Spa provides a variety of pampering. Some of the services offered in the spa include Facials, Traditional and Hot stone massages, Cellulite Reduction, Wraps and even Acupuncture. Be sure to check your Princess Patter for Port Day specials, which are very popular. The Beauty salon offers nail treatments, hair styling, hair colour, and barber services. With an entrance off the Lotus Spa, the Sanctuary pool and hot tubs provide a quiet area to extend your relaxation. The fitness center offers a nice selection of nautilus equipment, free weights and cardio machines with a view. And while most equipment was in good shape during our sailing, a few were showing the inevitable wear. There’s also a group fitness room with TRX stuff, and spin machines. Situated under Skywalkers walkway, you’ll find a splash pool for little ones, another small pool and a hot tub. And, in case you get thirsty there’s the Oasis Bar. Now let’s head up to the lawn court, but before we do here’s a quick look at the table tennis area. The lawn court seemed to be a bit of a forgotten area during our sailing. If you’re looking for a getaway from the bustling pool area, this may be a good choice. Speaking of getaways, welcome to the Sanctuary, Star Princess’ adults only spa inspired area. You can purchase access to this area where you’ll find cabanas for massages, extra cozy lounge chairs, and refreshing drinks and snacks. Be sure to book early in your voyage, as this popular spot can sell out. Star didn’t forget about it’s basketball fans. Way up on deck 17 you’ve got “hoops with a view” in the sports court. You don’t want to miss the escalator up to Skywalkers Nightclub. If you’re not interested in enjoying the late night activities here, check out the amazing views by day with its funky outer space décor and comfortable seating. At night, the disco comes alive and the bartenders stay busy. On our sailing Princess offered late night by one get one happy hours in this venue as well. Thank you so much for watching! Be sure to follow up on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Until next time we’ll see you on the high seas.
